Firstly I am speaking from a wealth of experience, as a proven top biller and mentor to the many Accountants over the years, I want to share a few tips for Accounting firms use when using recruitment agencies!

My track record speaks for itself, I have set up multinational firms in NZ, billed over a million dollars in fees over the years working as a business owner ,setting up multinational firms in NZ and currently back as a business owner again and Director for one of NZ's premier agency- Accounting Practices Limited.

​What to look for when you are using an AGENCY?

  1. Experience is everything!! Look for agencies or individuals that have been recruiting in the CA space for a minimum of 3 years in NZ!
  2. Just like time sheets and the billable hours you need to submit, as Accountants you do not want to be wasting your time talking to an agency that has less than 3years recruiting in the space!
  3. Having over 5 years working in Public Practice recruitment or Brokering makes a huge difference in building trust with the firms.
  4. There are firms out there that make out they specialise in CA recruitment, but dig a little deeper and they also try and recruit in other industries and then your firm will just be a number while they try and place someone in commercial, IT etc
  5. Be careful and watch out for recruiters that send out emails stating they are specialist in CA when they don’t have the experience or track record- You only need to look at their linkedin profile to get an understanding of their presence in NZ or how long they have been recruiting in the space.
  6. If you come across an Agent/agency that states they recruit in the CA market then view an individuals LinkedIn profile if you can, remember LI is a quick way to see a person’s profile for you to make a judgment call.
  7. If they have less than 3years min recruiting in the CA space, I would be looking elsewhere!
